About Us Founded in 1990 Ash Wipers is a family business. Jim & Shirley and their son Scott are the principals. Over the years, our expertise has increased considerably by attending training programs and work shops. We’ve become a full service company doing sweeps, repairs, relines and house pressure testing. We have 2 full time employees, a full time stone/brick mason and we do any kind of chimney repair from minor repairs to a complete tear down and rebuild. We do insurance work including chimney fire repairs and lightning strikes. We are equipped with the latest equipment to do house pressurization testing to solve poorly venting fireplaces and heating appliances. About Chimney Sweeping Regrettably most people do not give their chimney systems much attention until there is a serious problem. Houses built years ago were not very tight and leaked air continually. As the years have gone by , the practice of upgrading residential heating appliances, the changes in types of fuel and insulation, and the trend toward creating tighter housing envelopes have made it harder for chimneys to do their job. Many times the natural draft is over-powered by various devices installed in the home. Leakage of combustible gases from the furnace, hot water heater or fireplace is quite common. One of our areas of expertise is the diagnosis of these problems and then resolving them. A "sweep" not only includes the removal of combustible products from a chimney system but also a thorough inspection of all of the venting systems, making sure they are doing the job they were designed for.
